FREE! 0.4 CEUs in PPO/Ethics (pending) for working with a DeafBlind mentor on site. This practical experience in the field will be supervised by DB leaders and professional CoNavigators. A mandatory debrief with facilitators will take place the last 30 minutes of the event.
This training will be an application of modern best practices for working with DeafBlind individuals. Instructors will provide ongoing feedback to help participants examine the ethics and skills needed to work with a DeafBlind individual in unique environments with specific demands. Trainers will utilize lived experience and hands-on techniques to provide a robust foundation for working as a co-navigator, which can be applied to a variety of roles in the DeafBlind community. As a part of this community conversation, we will discuss the effect of power, privilege, and oppression within the DeafBlind community and the effect of Distantism from support providers.
